Fall 2022
About the Project:
Multimedia
The idea was to create a story with myself as a protagonist/main character, making a complete story arc in 19-24 panels creating a sequential art narrative, or a mini story. My story is an excerpt of the life of a supernatural seamstress that has to find weakening seams of reality and repair them before they become a singularity.
In this project, I used a variety of different media, mostly physical media due to the parameters of the project. This top page is 12 x 9 inches and can be seen better here as it was part of a project to illustrate perspective and 3-dimensional space.

In these two pages I did the background with color pencils on black paper. The figure is a puppet that I used several times in different pages. However, in the page below, top panel, I did some digital editing to change the colors of the person to match the light source better there.

In this page below, I used mediums such as ink wash, crow quill pen, acrylic paint and watercolor pencils. This page was also part of a project to develop a 3D space using one-point perspective which can be viewed here. In the sequential narrative this also signifies the transition from reality to unreality, which means the character is on the right track and getting closer to the weakening seams.

On the page below a 14 x 9 in Bristol board or Bristol paper divided into panels. The materials used here are ink wash, crowquil pen, watercolor pencil, and gouache (the last panel), as well as the use of my puppet once again.
The increase in bright color was used to convey the unrealness compared with the previous scenes we have seen. The different use of media is also a cognizant choice made for the same reason.

This page (9 x 12) was an interesting thought I developed during this project. I am a hobby seamstress, which also fits in with my character’s profession as well, so I wanted to create a page using fabric which fits into the narrative as well. This is full into the unreality, the contrast even greater next to my puppet-as well as the church-which links them together.

In the panel below, I am using the same fabric made piece, just altered directly on top. In the second panel I used color pencils, black paper, and perspective to imitate the view of the church door to convey an ominous and imposing feeling as well as transition. You can also see the use of my puppet once again.

In the top panel of this last page, this is part of the atmospheric project here, and is ink wash on toned paper. This is the view of the church in reality, hence the lack of color to connect it with the main character.
The transition of the main character putting on some special glasses are watercolor and micron pen and are approximately 2 x 2 inches each.
The last panel is, in actuality, a large piece of 17 x 14 inches which shows the seams of reality coming undone. Each of the different colors shows a different time period vying for the same place in time. The sepia tone where the main character is shows present day, to connect to the top panel and differentiate it from the other time periods.
